Notification No. 35 Dated 05/02/1969 In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 11-C , 11-J and 11-K of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962) read with clause (34) of section 2 of the said Act, and in supersession of the notification of the Central Board of Excise andCustoms No. G.S.R. 42 (Notification No 11-Cus/69), dated the 3 rd January 1969, the Central Board of Excise and Customs hereby assigns the functions read under each of the sections of the said Act specified in column(2) of the Table hereto annexed, to the officer specified in corresponding entry in column (3) thereof. THE TABLE S. No. Section of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962) Designation of the Officer (1) (2) (3) 1. 11C (i) 1 [Assistant Commissioner of Customs or Deputy Commissioner of Customs] incharge of the Preventive Department of the Customs House at Bombay, Calcutta, Madras, Cochin, Goa, Kandla and Visakhapatnam, within the areas under his jurisdiction. (ii) In areas in the district of Thana and Colaba in the State of Maharashtra, and in other areas in the State of Maharashtra within the jurisdiction of the 2 [Principal Commissioner or Commissioner] of Central Excise, Bombay, the Superintendent of Central Excise working under the said 3 [Principal Commissioner or Commissioner] and to whom functions in this respect are assigned by the said 4 [Principal Commissioner or Commissioner]. (iii) In areas in the State of West Bengal, the Superintendent of Central Excise working under the 5 [Commissioner] of Land Customs and Central Excise, West Bengal, to whom functions in this respect are assigned by the said 7 [Principal Commissioner of Commissioner]. (iv) In all other places, superintendent of Central Excise within the area under his jurisdiction 2. 11J (i) In areas in the district of Thana and Colaba in th e State of Maharashtra, and in other areas in the State of Maharashtra, within the jurisdiction of the 8 [Principal Commissioner or Commissioner] of Central Excise, Bombay, the Superintendent of Central Excise working under the said 9 [Principal Commissioner or Commissioner] and to whom functions in this respect are assigned by the said 10 [Principal Commissioner or Commissioner]. (ii) In areas in the State of West Bengal, the Superintendent of Central Excise working under the 11 [Commissioner] of Land Customs and Central Excise, West Bengal, to whom functions in this respect are assigned by the said 12 [Commissioner]. (iii) In all other places, Superintendent of Central Excise within the area under his jurisdiction. 3. 11K (i) In areas in the district of Thana and Colaba in the State of Maharashtra, and in other areas in the State of Maharashtra within the jurisdiction fo the 13 [Principal Commissioner or Commissioner] of the Central Excise, Bombay, the Superintendent of Central excise or, in his absence on leave or on tour, the Inspector of Central Excise, working under the said 14 [Principal Commissioner or Commissioner] and to whom functions in this respect are assigned by the said 15 [Principal Commissioner or Commissioner]. (ii) In areas in the State of West Bengal, the Superintendent of Central Excise or, in his absence on leave or on tour, this Inspector of Central Excise, working under the 16 [Principal Commissioner or Commissioner] of Land Customs and Central Excise, West Bengal to whom functions in this respect are assigned by the said 17 [Principal Commissioner or Commissioner].
