NOTIFICATION MUMBAI, the December 4,1996 S.O. 851 (E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992, (15 of 1992) read with section 25 of the Depositories Act, 1996 (22 of 19%) the Board hereby makes the following regulations to amend the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Custodian of Securities) Regulations, 19%. 1. (i) These regulations may be called the SEBI (Custodian of Securities) Amendment Regulations, 1996.- (ii) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. After clause (a) of sub-regulation (2) of Regulation 7 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Custodian of Securities) Regulations, 1996 a new proviso shall be added as follows: Provided that the period specified above may be extended by the Board upto a maximum of 5 years.
