Multi Product Special Economic Zone in the State of Maharashtra - Central Government de-notifies an area of 642.95 hectares, thereby making resultant area as 100 hectares. - S.O. 5777(E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) (SEZ DIVISION) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 9th December, 2022 S.O. 5777(E). -Whereas, M/s. Khed Economic Infrastructure Private Limited, a private organization in the State of Maharashtra, had proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005) , (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up Multi Product Special Economic Zone at village Kendur in Taluka Shirur and Villages Nimgaon, Dawdi, Kanhersar in Taluka Khed, District Pune in the State of Maharashtra; AND, WHEREAS, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006 , had notified an area of 1000 hectares area and de-notified an area of 257.05 hectares at the above Special Economic Zone vide Ministry of Commerce and Industry Notification Nos. S.O. 1463(E) dated 16th June, 2010 and S.O. 1266(E) dated 13th April, 2017 , respectively; AND, WHEREAS, M/s. Khed Economic Infrastructure Private Limited has now proposed for de-notification of 642.95 hectares at the above Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the State Government of Maharashtra has given its approval to the proposal vide its letter No. SEZ-2021/CR-186/Ind-2 dated 27.06.2022; AND, WHEREAS, the Development Commissioner, SEEPZ Special Economic Zone has recommended the proposal for de-notification of an area of 642.95 hectares of the Special Economic Zone. Further, as per the Developer, the proposed de-notification is pursuant to State Government s Industrial policy 2013. As per this policy, de-notified SEZs in the State of Maharashtra are permitted/allowed to be developed as Integrated Industrial Area ( IIA ). As per IIA Development Control Rules, at least 80% of the land parcels are to be put to use for industrial purpose and balance upto 20% is permitted to use for non-industrial / support services (similar to NPA in SEZs); NOW, WHEREAS, the Central Government is satisfied that the requirements under sub-section (8) of section 3 of the said Act and other related requirements are fulfilled; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by second proviso to sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 and in pursuance of rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006 , the Central Government hereby de-notifies an area of 642.95 hectares, thereby making resultant area as 100 hectares for the multi-product Special Economic Zone.
