Seeks to rescind Notification Number S.O. 2706 (E) dated 27th October, 2009 - S.O. 2137 (E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) (SEZ DIVISION) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 8th May, 2023 S.O. 2137(E). WHEREAS, M/s. Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation, a state industrial promotion organization in the State of Gujarat had proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005) , (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a sector specific Special Economic Zone for Biotechnology Sector at Biotech Park, Savli GIDC Estate, Village Manjusar, District Vadodara in the State of Gujarat; AND, WHEREAS, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006 , notified an area of 15.8098 hectares at the above Special Economic Zone vide Ministry of Commerce and Industry Notification Number S.O. 2706 (E) dated 27th October, 2009 ; AND, WHEREAS, M/s. Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation has now proposed to de-notify the entire area of 15.8098 hectares of the above Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the State Government of Gujarat has given No Objection Certificate to the proposal vide letter No. IC/INFRA/SEZ/NOC/1755292 dated 7th October, 2021; AND, WHEREAS, the Development Commissioner, Kandla Special Economic Zone has recommended the proposal for de-notification of entire area of 15.8098 hectares of the Special Economic Zone; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by first proviso to rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006 , the Central Government hereby rescinds the above notification except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such rescission.
