Central Excise Rules - 2nd Amendment

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excises Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules, 1944, namely :-

1. (1) These rules may be called the Central Excise (2nd Amendmentment) Rules, 1997.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their Publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In rule 53 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, after the proviso, the following proviso shall be added, namely :-

"Provided further that the Chief Commissioner of Central Excise may allow by, general or special order, a manufacturer, to make entries in respect of such goods, in such manner, at such interval, and subject to such conditions and limitations, as may be specified by the Central Board of Excise & Customs."
