SSI Exemption - Amendment to Notification No. 38/97-C.E.

Notification No. 45/97-C.E.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 38/97-Central Excise, dated the 27th June, 1997, namely :-

In the said notification, in the Annexure, in item number (5), the following shall be added at the end, namely :-

"(viii) ingots and billets of non-alloy steel, falling under sub-heading Nos. 7206.90 or 7207.90, on which the duty of excise is paid under section 3A of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944);

(ix) hot re-rolled products of non-alloy steel, falling under sub-heading Nos. 7211.19, 7211.59, 7211.60, 7211.90, 7215.99, 7214.90, 7216.10 or 7216.90, on which the duty of excise is paid under section 3A of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944).".

2. This notification shall come into force on the 1st day of August, 1997.
