Amends Notification Nos. 30/88-CE., 31/88-C.E., 25/90-C.E. and 80/92-C.E.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby directs that each of the notifications of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) specified in column (2) of the Table hereto annexed, shall be amended or further amended, as the case may be, in the manner specified in the corresponding entry in column (3) of the said Table.

No. 30/88-Cen­tral Excises, dated 1st March, 1988

In the Annexure to the said notification, after Serial Number 32 and the entry relating thereto, the following Serial Numbers and entries shall be added, namely,-

"33. Isoniazid (INH) + Vitamin B6 Combination

 34. AZT (Zidovudine) Capsule".

No. 31/88-Cen­tral Excises, dated 1st March, 1988.

In the Table annexed to the said notification, after S. No. 5 and the entry relating thereto, the following S. Nos. and entries shall be added, namely, -

"6. Zidovudine

 7. Insulin".

No. 25/90-Cen­tral Excises, dated 20th March, 1990.

In the said notification,-

(i) for the words, "single ingredient formulations of Rifampicin and formulations of Rifampicin with Isoniazid (INH) and formulations of Rifampicin with Isoniazid (INH) and Pyrazinamide,", the words "single ingredient formulations of Rifampicin, formulations of Rifampicin with Isoniazid (INH), formulations of Rifampicin with Isoniazid (INH) and Pyrazinamide and for­mulation of Rifampicin with Isoniazid (INH) and Vitamin B6" shall be substituted;

 

 

(ii) in the Explanation, for paragraph (d), the following paragraph shall be substituted, namely,-

 

 

 

"(d) 'formulations of Rifampicin with Isoniazid (INH) and Vitamin B6 means medicaments processed out of or containing the bulk drugs Rifampicin, Isoniazid (INH) and Vitamin B6, with or without the use of any pharmaceutical aids (such as diluent, disintegrating agent, moistening agent, lubricant, buffering agent, stabiliser or preserver) which are therapeutically inert and do not interfere with the therapeutic or prophylactic activity of the drugs for internal or external use for, or in the diagnosis, treatment, mitigation or prevention of disease in human beings or animals, but does not include any substance to which the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 (23 of 1940) do not apply.

 

 

 

(e) 'bulk drug' has the same meaning as assigned to it in the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 1987.".

No. 80/92-Cen­tral Excises, dated the 31st July, 1992.

In the Table annexed to the said notification, after S. No. 3 and the entries relating thereto, the following S. No. and entries shall be added, namely,-
