Declaration of Madras and Falta Export Processing Zone as Free Trade Zone

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (i) of Explanation 2 to the proviso to sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), read with clause (va) of rule 2 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 236/85-Central Excises, dated the 15th November, 1985, namely:-

In the said notification, in the Explanation for clause (1), the following clause shall be substituted, namely :-

'(1) "Madras Export Processing Zone" means the Madras Export Processing Zone near Meenambakkam Airport in Tamil Nadu comprising of the places bearing Survey Numbers 123/1A2, 1B2, 134/1, A2, 3B, 135/2, 143/2A, 144/1, 145, 146/1, 147/1 and 164/1 (part) of Kadappori village of Saidapat Taluk, Chengelpattu District of Tamil Nadu lying at a distance of 24 kms. from the port of Madras and 6 kms. from Madras National Air Port and 8 kms. from Madras International Air Port, enclosed by masonary brick wall upto a height varying from 3.35 metres to 3.85 metres depending upon the site condition with "Y" angle barbed wire fencing extending upto a further height of 1.2 metres, starting from the North West corner of the area, which runs upto 258 metres towards North East, takes a turn towards South upto 1045.2 metres and takes a turn towards East upto 18 metres and North East upto a distance of 262 metres, towards North upto 70.8 metres, turns towards East upto 157.7 metres runs towards South upto 154 metres and turns towards East upto 227 metres, runs towards South upto 96 metres, turns towards east upto 72 metres, after which it further runs parallel to the main G.S.T. Road for 86.4 metres, towards South upto North East to Booster Station and runs towards and West for 30 metres turns towards South for 30 metres around the Booster Station and turns towards West upto 200 metres, towards North upto 41 metres, towards West for 99.8 metres, towards North 82.6 metres, towards East for 304.4 metres, towards North upto 111 metres and towards West by 34 metres, covering a circumference of 3,379.9 metres of Brick compound wall, the further circumference of 839.6 metres being of barbed wire fence and the remaining circumference of 288.2 metres being of brick compound wall, thus constituting a total circumference of 4507.7 metres.
