Zinc Oxide

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944 and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue and Insurance) No. 172/81-Central Excises, dated the 24th October, 1981, the Central Government hereby exempts Zinc Oxide, falling under Sub-heading No. 2804.30 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986), from the whole of the duty of excise leviable thereon under section 3 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944) :

Provided that —

(i) the Assistant Collector of Central Excise is satisfied that such Zinc Oxide is intended for use in the manufacture of rubber ; and

(ii) the procedure specified in Chapter X of the said rules is followed in the matter of obtaining remission of duty on such Zinc Oxide.

2. This notification shall come into force on the 28th day of February, 1986.
