Amendment to Notification Nos. 136/90-Cus., 171/93-Cus., 117/94-Cus., 152/94-Cus., 171/94-Cus., 26/95-Cus., 39/96-Cus., 49/96-Cus., 51/96-Cus. and 80/97-Cus. Notification No. 28/98-Cus. Dated 2-6-1998 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby directs that each of the notifications of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), specified in column (2) of the Table hereto annexed, shall be amended or further amended, as the case may be, in the manner specified in the corresponding entry in column (3) of the said Table. TABLE S.No. Notification No. and date Amendment (1) (2) (3) 1. 136/90-Customs dated the 20th March, 1990 In the Table annexed to the said notification, in column (1), for the words, "the Baggage Rules, 1994" the words "the Baggage Rules, 1998" shall be substituted. 2. 171/93-Customs, dated the 16th September, 1993 In the said notification for the words and figures "and falling under heading 98.04" the words and figures "and either imported by a courier as defined in the Courier Imports (Clearance) Regulations, 1995, or falling under heading 98.04" shall be substituted. 3. 117/94-Customs, dated the 27th April, 1994 In the Table annexed to the said notification, against S.No. 1, for the entry in column (3), the entry "Rs. 250 per 10 grams" shall be substituted. 4. 152/94-Customs, dated the 13th July,1994 In the Table annexed to the said notification, against S.No. 5, in column (4), for the words "An officer not below the rank of a Joint Secretary in the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence,", the words "The functional Director of M/s. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited" shall be substituted. 5. 171/94-Customs,dated the 30th September, 1994 In para 1 of the said notification, for the words, letters and figures, "calculated at the rate of Rs. 220 per ten grams", the words, letters and figures "calculated at the rate of Rs. 250 per ten grams" shall be substituted. 6. 26/95-Customs,dated the 16th March, 1995 In the Table annexed to the said notification, against S. No. (1), -(i) against item Nos. 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 33 and 36 in column (2), for the corresponding entry in column (3) against each of them, the entry "20% ad valorem " shall be substituted; (ii) against item Nos. 34 and 35 in column (2), for the corresponding entry in column (3) against each of them, the entry "25% ad valorem " shall be substituted; (1) (2) (3) 7. 39/96-Customs, dated the 23rd July, 1996 In the Table annexed to the said notification, - (1) S. No. 3 and the entries relating thereto shall be omitted; (2) against S. No. 7, - (i) for the entries in column (2), the following shall be substituted, namely, - "Ferrous and non ferrous metals in any form and articles thereof"(ii) in column 3, for clause (c), the following shall be substituted, namely, -"(c) the importer undertakes to store the said goods separately and account for the same to the satisfaction of the Assistant Commissioner of Customs;";(3) against S. No. 9, in column (2), for the words "Coast Guard" at the two places where they against occur, the words "Indian Navy or Coast Guard" shall be substituted;(4) S.No. 15, in column (3), in the Explanation , for the figures, letters and words "1st day of July, 1998", the figures, letters and words "1st day ofJanuary, 1999" (5) against S.No. 17, in column (3), in shall be substituted; clause (b), in sub clasue (1), for the words "Programme Director" the words "Programme Director or Associate Programme Director" shall be substituted; (6) against S.No. 18, in column (3), in the Explanation, for the figures, letters and words "1st day of August, 1998", the figures, lettes and words "1st day of July, 2002" shall be substituted; and (7) against S. No. 19, in column (3), in clause (b) in sub clause (1), for the words "Programme Director" the words "Programme Director or Associate Programme Director" shall be substituted. 8. 49/96-Customs dated 23rd July, 1996 In the Table annexed to the said notification, -(i) against S. No. (1), in column (2), for item (II), the following item shall be substituted, namely :- "(II) The goods specified in the Table to the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 23/98-Customs, dated the 2nd June, 1998 against S. No. 46 [in column (3) at item Nos. (A) and (C)], 80, 94, 95 (only blank travellers cheques), 97, 194, 234, 244, 247, 249 and 251;"; (ii) against S. No. (2), in column (2), for the words, "manuscripts falling within heading No. 49.04, postage stamps", the words "manuscripts falling within heading No. 49.04, topographical plans falling within heading No. 49.05, plans, drawings and designs falling within heading No. 49.06, postage stamps" shall be substituted. 9. 51/96-Customs, dated the 23rd July, 1996 In the Table annexed to the said notification, -(1) against S. No. 1, in column (3), for clause (b), the following clause shall be substituted namely : "accessories, parts and consumables;"; (2) against S. No. 2, in column (3), for clause (b), the following clause shall be substituted namely :- "accessories, parts and consumables;"; 10. 80/97-Customs, dated the 21st October, 1997 In the Table annexed to the said notification, against S. No. 1, for the entry in column (3), the entry "Rs. 250 per 10 grams" shall be substituted.
