Iron steel melting scraps - Amendment to Notification No. 83/90-Cus. Notification No. 91/95-Cus. Dated 12-5-1995 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendment in the notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 83/90-Customs, dated the 20th March, 1990, namely : - In the proviso to the said notification, for clause (a), the following clause shall be substituted, namely : - "(a) the importer furnishes an undertaking to the Assistant Collector of Customs to the effect that such melting scrap will be used in electric arc furnace or induction furnace or melting in a hot blast cupola and in the event of his failure to comply with the said condition, he shall be liable to pay in respect of such quantity of the said scrap as is not proved to have been so used, an amount equal to the difference between the duty leviable on such quantity but for the exemption contained herein and that already paid at the time of importation; and"
