Amendment to Notification Nos. 349/86, 350/86, 506/86, 507/86 and 73/87 Notification No. 75/88-Cus. Dated 1-3-1988 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby directs that each of the notifications of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), specified in column (2) of the Table hereto annexed shall be amended or further amended, as the case may be, in the manner specified in the corresponding entry in column (3) of the said Table. In the said notification, for the portion beginning with the words "for such manufacture, from-" and ending with the words "of the said Customs Tariff Act,", the words and figures "for such manufacture, from so much of that portion of the duty of customs leviable thereon which is specified in the said First Schedule, as is in excess of the amount calculated at the rate of 20 percent ad valorem" , shall be substituted. 2. 250/86-Customs, dated the 16th June, 1986. In the said notification, - (i) in the opening paragraph, after Clause (ii), the following clause shall be inserted, namely (iii) for the purpose of in-house maintenance of computers and computer systems,"; (ii) for clause (b), following clause shall be substituted namely :- (b) so much of that portion of the additional duty leviable thereon under section 3 of the said Customs Tariff Act, as is in excess of the amount calculated at the rate of 10 per cent ad valorem ". (iii) for the portion beginning with the words "subject to the following conditions," and ending with the words "at the time of importation", the words "subject to the condition that an officer not lower in rank than a Joint Director in the Department of Electronics of the Government of India is satisfied that the goods in question are required for the purpose specified above and certifies to this effect and recommends grant of above exemption." shall be substituted. 3. 506/86-Customs, dated the 24th December, 1986 In the said notification, after the words and figures "Heading No. 84.71", the words and figures "the accompanying software of such computer equipments falling under Heading No. 85.24 and the start up spares of such computer equipments falling under Heading No. 84.73," shall be inserted. 4. 507/86-Customs, dated the 24th December, 1986. In the said notification, after the words and figures "Heading No. 84.71", the words and figures "the accompanying software of such computer equipment falling under Heading No. 85.24 and the start up spares of such computer equipments falling under Heading No. 84.73," shall be inserted. 5. 73/87-Customs, dated the 1st March, 1987. In the said notification, in the opening paragraph the words "and required for the maintenance of computers or computer peripherals or" shall be omitted.
