Amends 7 Notifications Notification No. 183/87-Cus. Dated 29-4-1987 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby directs that each of the notifications of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) specified in column (2) of the Table hereto annexed shall be amended or further amended, as the case may be, in the manner specified in the corresponding entry in column (3) of the said Table. In the said notification, for the portion beginning with the words "imported into India, from -" and ending with the words "second-mentioned Act", the words "when imported into India, from so much of that portion of the duty of customs leviable thereon which is specified in the said First Schedule as is in excess of the amount calculated at the rate of 60% ad valorem :" shall be substituted. 2. 345/86-Customs, dated the 16th June, 1986. In the said notification, against Sl. No. 24, in column (4), for the words "and Electron gun parts", the words "Electron gun parts, coils and transformers, electro magnetic shields encoders and synchros" shall be substituted. 3. 346/86-Customs, dated the 16th June, 1986. In the Table annexed to the said notification, against Sl. No. 8, in column (4), for the entry, the following entry shall be substituted, namely :- "Semiconductor devices.". 4. 348/86-Customs, dated the 16th June, 1986. In the said notification, for the words "one hundred per cent ad valorem ", the words '"eighty per cent ad valorem " shall be substituted. 5. 349/86-Customs, dated the 16th June, 1986. In the said notification, for the words "35 per cent ad valorem ", the words "20 per cent ad valorem " shall be substituted. 6. 350/86-Customs, dated the 16th June, 1986. (i) In the said notification, for condition (ii), the following condition shall be substituted, namely :- "(ii) the importer shall furnish an undertaking to the effect that - (a) the said imported parts shall be used for the purpose specified above, (b) in the event of his failure to comply with the requirement of item (a) of this condition above, he shall pay, an amount equal to the difference between the duty leviable on such quantity of the said imported parts but for the exemption contained herein and that already paid at the time of importation.". (ii) In the Table annexed to the said notification, after Sl. No. (xv) and the entry relating thereto, following shall be inserted, namely :- (1) (2) "(xvi) Optical printers including laser printers. (xvii) Optical/laser dic drives (xviii) Encoder/reader-sorter for MICR applications. (xix) Computer output-Microfilm/Micro Fische. (xx) Laser scanners. (xxi) Optical character/mark/page readers.". 7. 73/87-Customs, dated the 1st March, 1987. In the said notification, - (i) for the words "for manufacture or maintenance of computers or computer peripherals", the words "for maintenance of computers or computer peripherals or in accordance with the approved phased manufacturing programme for the manufacture of super mini or main frame computers" shall be substituted; and (ii) the words "or an Additional Industrial Adviser in the Directorate General of Technical Development of the Government of India or a Joint Director in the Directorate of Industries of the Government of a State, as the case may be", shall be omitted.
