Video cassettes and video tapes of educational character Notification No. 262/86-Cus. Dated 24-4-1986 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts video cassettes and video tapes of a predominantly educational character and falling within Chapter 85 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975), when imported into India, from the whole of the duty of customs leviable thereon which is specified in the said First Schedule : Provided that the Central Board of Film Certification, or, as the case may be, the Director, Television Centre, All India Radio, New Delhi, in case of such video cassettes and video tapes imported by the Television Centre, All India Radio, certifies in the form annexed hereto in each case that the video cassettes and video tapes in respect of which exemption is claimed under this notification, is of a predominantly educational character.
