Extent of application of Customs Act, 1962 and Customs Tariff Act, 1975 under Ministry of External Affairs Notification No. S.O. 643(E), dated 19-9-1996 [Notification No. 64/97-Customs (N.T.), dated 1-12-1997 ] In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (a) of sub-section (6) of section 6, and clause (a) of sub-section (7) of section 7, of the Territorial Waters, Continental Shelf, Exclusive Economic Zone and other Maritime Zone Act, 1976 (80 of 1976), the Central Government hereby further extends the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962) and the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975) to the designated areas in the Continental Shelf and the Exclusive Economic Zone of India as declared by the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of External Affairs No. S.O. 643(E), dated the 19th September, 1996 with immediate effect.
