Implementation of Bar-Code Postponed indefinitely - 50 (RE-2000) 1997-2002 - Foreign Trade PolicyExtract Implementation of Bar-Code Postponed indefinitely TO BE PUBLISHED IN THE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY PART-II, SECTION-3, SUB SECTION (ii) Government of India Ministry of Commerce Industry Department of Commerce NOTIFICATION NO. 50 (RE-2000) 1997-2002 NEW DELHI : the 13 th February , 2001 In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 (No. 22 of 1992) read with paragraph 1.3 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002 (incorporating amendments made upto 31.3.2000), the Central Government hereby makes following amendments in the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002: (incorporating amendment made upto 31.3.2000). Attention is invited to notification No.32(RE-2000) /1997-2000 dated. 1 st September, 2000 and notification No. 43 (RE-2000)/ 1997-2000 dated 22 nd November,2000 ; the former making it mandatory for all exports to implement bar coding using international symbologies/international numbering standard w.e.f. 1 st December, 2000 and the latter extending this date to 1 st April, 2001. In view of various representations received citing the problems in implementation of bar- coding, the issue has been re-examined. Keeping in perspective the various difficulties faced by trade and industry to adopt bar coding from 1 st April, 2001, it has been decided to further postpone the date of implementation until further orders in this regard.
