Modvat Credit of Addl. Duty and Special Duty of Excise
Notification No. 24/99-CE(NT)

G.S.R.(E) .- In exercise of the powers conferred by rule 57A of the Central Excise Rules, 1994 read with clause 119 and 121 of the Finance Bill, 1999, which clause have, by virtue of the declaration made in the said Finance Bill under the Provisional Collection of Taxes Act, 1931 (16 of 1931), the force of law, the Central Government hereby directs that each of the notifications of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) specified in column (2) of the Table hereby annexed, shall be amended or further amended, as the case may be, in the manner specified in the corresponding entry in column (3) of the said Table, namely :-

In the said notification
(a) in the second proviso, for the words, brackets, figures and letter, ""the additional duty of excise, specified under (ii) above or the additional duty specified under (iv)
(b) above"", the words, brackets, figures and letter, ""the additional duty of excise specified under (iii) above or the additional duty specified (v)(c) above"" shall be substituted; |

In the said notification, in the opening paragraph, in clause (c), in sub-clause (v), for the words, figures and brackets, ""the additional duty under section 3 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975)"", the words, figures and brackets ""the additional duty under section 3 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975)"" equivalent to the duties specified under sub-clause (i),(ii),(iii) and (iv) above"" shall be substituted. |
Note : 1.The principal notification No. 24/94-Central Excise (N.T.), dated the 20th May, 1904 was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary vide G.S.R. 474 (E), dated 20th May, 1994, and was amended by notification No. 22/99-Central Excise (N.T.), dated the 28th February, 1999 [G.S.R. 183(E) dated the 28th February, 1999];
2.The principal notification No. 21/99-Central Excise (N.T.), dated the 28th February 1999 was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary vide G.S.R.182(E), dated 28th February, 1999.
