Career Counselling Transformed Students’ Lives via Toprankers Udaan

New Delhi [India], April 10: Udaan is Toprankers’ dedicated career guidance and counselling platform, designed to assist high school students from Class 8 to 12 in making informed career choices and creating comprehensive career plans.

The platform’s mission is to ensure that every student, regardless of their background, has access to high-quality career guidance that promotes upward mobility. I am attaching two inspiring stories that illustrate how timely support and career guidance can help create a bright future.

#Success Story 1 - Abhishek Kumar Abhishek Kumar, a student from rural Uttar Pradesh, had been preparing for NEET for two years, from 2017 to 19. However, he was unable to achieve the desired rank.

He later realized that he was not very interested in it. At this point, he met a Career Coach from Toprankers Udaan (then called ProBano) who conducted Career Counselling with him and discovered that he had an interest in Computer Science and could excel in it. They connected him with NavGurukul, a non-profit that provides affordable tech education to Indian students.

He took the entrance exam, passed it, studied there on a full scholarship, and secured a job in 2021 that paid him ?16,000 per month. As of today, he earns ?70,000 per month, is happy with his work, and has made his parents proud.

From the moment his father, a farmer, was prepared to sell his land to enrol him in private NEET coaching, to the point where he studied Computer Science- a subject he was passionate about- with a full scholarship, it illustrates how Career Counselling can significantly influence a student's career and a family's bright future.

#Success Story 2 - Aarti Kashyap Aarti Kashyap, a student at ITI Faridabad studying COPA (Computer Operator & Programming Assistant) in the designated batch of Toprankers Udaan’s (then called ProBano) Entrepreneurship Program, was a talented yet shy student.

She was an excellent painter, with a strong interest in cooking and baking. This was in 2020, during the nationwide lockdown implemented due to COVID.

After speaking with her, her assigned Career Coach suggested that she try baking and provided her with a YouTube playlist to learn. She learnt to bake within a few weeks and had already begun baking cakes, sharing photos of them with the Career Coach.

From 2020 to 21, she attended nearly all the sessions of this program, learning the basics of entrepreneurship and English communication. By the end of the program, she was one of the top-performing students and, in May 2021 (during peak COVID), was earning ?5,000 to ? 10,000 per month through her home bakery business.

She then pursued a degree in Computer Science, secured a job in Software Engineering, and continued to run her Home Bakery Business. She now earns ?25,000-30,000 per month and also cares for her family.

She credits her decision to start a home bakery business, her knowledge of entrepreneurship, and her confidence in English communication to the Entrepreneurship Program at Toprankers Udaan.

From teaching badminton part-time at a nearby school while she was in Class 7 to help her family meet their financial needs, to making a significant contribution to running her household, Aarti sets a great example of women's empowerment.
