SBI Cheque Issue

  • Contents

Recently my Nani wanted to withdrew 20,000 INR from her bank account in SBI, so she gave me "self cheque".

As her age is 65+ so she told me to withdrew for her, I went to bank & bank cashier told me NO

he told me that bank can not issue money to 3ed party. Bank manager was not there in SBI, I also show ID proof of my Nani (ADDHAR + VOTER ID) + there was a signature of her.

Can a cashier refuse me to pay me cash for self cheque ??

What is a solution of it ?? My nani will never visit bank as her age does not support her.

Sir, Self Cheques are supposed to be used by the account holder himself to withdraw cash. In case the account holder is not in as situation to be present by himself in the Bank, then he/she should issue cheque in the name of the person who will be withdrawing the money for him/her. Thanks.

Thank You Very Much for reply but my income comes under taxable income so it would create taxation issue. It's better if we get debit card for my nani.

Sir, in case of bearer cheque issued on you and you use it to withdraw the cash, it does not impact on your account as such and hence there will not be any issue for you. Thanks.

Respected Ganeshan Kalyani Sir,

In bearer cheque as far as I know, we need to write my name on cheque and need to tick out bearer. In this case.

But, my account is in ICICI bank not SBI bank.

So how we should prepare cheque ??

Please help.

Sir, Cheque will be drawn on SBI cheque from SBI account by your respected Nani ji where she has an account in your name and this cheque you will be presenting before SBI Bank to withdraw cash. In this case your ICICI Bank account has not been affected by the transaction. This will certainly not appear in your account as it has not been deposited in your bank before withdrawing. Thanks.

Thank you very much for your great help.

So, my nani ji will write a SBI cheque in my name & i need to show my ID proof to the SBI bank.

My nani ji will not do A.C Payee above & this process is called bearer cheque.

Am I correct now ??

Thank you very much

Actually our problem is not solved, because my naniji's home branch is in Dwarka & not in Rajkot. The above solution is applicable at Home Branch only.

Sir only option I feel is that naniji should apply for ATM which on her behalf you can use for banking.

Needless to say that utmost care is required in handling ATM.
