On March 1, 2024, the Indian government released an advisory telling platforms to wait to implement any unreliable Artificial Intelligence (AI) models/ Large Language Models (LLM)/ Generative AI, software or algorithms until they have received explicit permission from the Ministry of Electronic Information Technology (Meit Y). Additionally, the intermediaries or platforms must make sure that their systems do not support discriminatory, biased, or undermine the integrity of the electoral process. Finally, they must label all artificially generated media and text with unique identifiers or metadata to make identification easier.
