Synthetic Fabric Imports Face Minimum Import Price Hurdle, Exemptions for Certain Entities.

Import restrictions have been imposed on certain synthetic knitted fabrics under specified ITC(HS) codes, requiring a minimum import price (MIP) of $3.5 per kg for unrestricted import. However, this MIP condition does not apply to imports by Advance Authorisation holders, Export Oriented Units (EOUs), and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) units for inputs not sold in the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA). The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has extended the MIP condition from January 1, 2025, to March 31, 2025, under the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act and the Foreign Trade Policy 2023. .....
