..... value of the rice was around Rs. 30 lacs and a penalty of only Rs. 75,000/- was imposed on the Appellant. We find the quantum of penalty to be rather low but leave it at that. Insect infested basmati rice has been brought into India in contravention of the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act. This is quite serious and we do not think it appropriate to interfere with the quantum of penalty imposed .....
