Record about companies - Income Tax - 576/CBDT

INSTRUCTION NO. 576/CBDT Dated : July 28, 1973 Attention is invited to paragraph 2 (a) of the list of points for advance information arising out of the audit paragraphs contained in the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India for the year 1971-72, a copy of which has already been forwarded by the Chairman, Central Board of Direct Taxes. This paragraph reads as under: How many companies are registered under the Companies Act during the year 1970-71 and 1971-72 and how many of them have been assessed to tax during these years ? You are requested to contact the Regional Director of the Company Law Board and collect the following information: (a) Names and addresses of the companies which were registered in the years 1970-71 and 1971-72. (b) Whether all such companies have been brought on our record. If any of such companies have not been brought on record, the reasons therefor. (c) In respect of the newly registered companies referred to above, if assessments have been completed in any of these two years, the income as such and the demand raised. In order to answer any possible supplementaries on this very point, the Board desires that you may also collect the information regarding the number of companies registered in 1968-69 and 1969-70 and number out of them which have been taken on the records. A report regarding the above information has to be furnished to the Public Accounts Committee urgently. You may please ensure that the requisite information is supplied to the Board in respect of companies with registered offices in your Head Quarters by the 10th August , 1973 positively. Information regarding the remaining companies may be sent by 30th August, 1973.
