Regarding deduction u/s 80C - Income Tax - 618/CBDT

INSTRUCTION NO. 618/CBDT Dated : September 18, 1973 Section(s) Referred: 80C Statute: Income - Tax Act, 1961 Reference is invited to Board's Instruction No.553 dated 7th June,1973 clarifying the legal position of deduction admissible u/s.80 C of the I.T.Act,1961. In para 3 of the Instruction referred to above, directions were given to review the past assessments to the extent feasible but no report was required to be sent to Board. However, as has now been decided, you are required to send a report indicating therein whether any mistakes have been noticed in other cases and the result thereof. This report may kindly be sent so as to reach the Board by 31-12-73.
