Issue of Customs Duty Exemption Certificate for imports by NACO - Regarding. - Customs - F. No. 354/36/2011-TRUExtract Government of India Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) Central Board of Excise Customs, New Delhi dated 13-6-2011 Subject : Issue of Customs Duty Exemption Certificate for imports by NACO - Regarding. The undersigned is directed to refer to O.M. F. No. P-11015/48/2010-NACO (Proc.), dated 13 April, 2011 on the subject mentioned above. 2. According to clause (ii) of the proviso to Notification No. 84/97-Cus., dated 11th November, 1997 a certificate for claiming exemption there under is required to be issued by the executive head of the Project Implementing Authority and counter signed by an officer not below the rank of Joint Secretary to the Government of India in the concerned line Ministry in the Government of India. It has been pointed out that currently Secretary, Department of Aids Control is also the Director General of NACO. Under the circumstances, a certificate issued by the Director General, NACO would merit treatment as certification by the Project Implementation Authority as well as line Ministry and counter signature by an officer from the Department of AIDS Control would not be necessary. This arrangement may continue till such time as Director General, NACO is separately appointed. 3. A copy of this clarification is also being endorsed to the field formations of the Central Board of Excise Customs so that clarifications of goods imported by NACO under the exemption are not held up on this account.
