Import of cosmetics product - only if that product is registered with DCG (I) – REG. - Customs - 04/2013

Dated : 29.03.2013 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 04/2013 Attention of the trade Exporters/Importers/CHA/Airlines/Custodians [trade organizations is brought to the Gazette Notification G.S.R. 426 (E) dated 19th May, 2010, issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, for amending the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945 providing for registration of import of cosmetics into the Country with effect from 1st April 2013. As per this Notification a cosmetic product can be imported into India only if that product is registered with Drugs Controller General (l), the licensing authority under Drugs and Cosmetics Act and import of cosmetics without registration will be considered as an offence under Drugs Cosmetics Act. Hence such importers are required to make necessary application to the DCG (l) for registration of the cosmetics which they propose to import from 01/04/2013.
