Delay in approval of price and classification lists - Regarding Circular No. 6/93-CX.6 Dated 31-3-1993 [From F. No. 213/4/92-CX.6] Government of India Central Board of Excise Customs New Delhi Subject : Delay in approval of price and classification lists - Regarding Reference to Board's Circular D.O. F. No. 223/2/85-CX.6, dated 21-3-85 and Circular No.3/86 dated 7-2-86 regarding delay in approval of classification lists and price lists. In Circular No. 3/86, Board had desired that immediate attempts should be made to identify the points where Classification lists and Price Lists get delayed and remedial steps taken to prevent such delays in future. 2. Subsequently, Board, had vide Circular No. 8/92, dated 1-10-1992 given directions that 3 copies of the Classification Lists and Price Lists should be filed with the Asstt. Collector also. This had been done to ensure more effective monitoring of the pendency of the Classification lists and Price lists. Board desires that all due care should be taken to avoid delay in the approval of these documents. The time limits specified in Board's D.O.F. No. 223/3/85-CX.6, dated 21-3-1985 should be strictly followed, this applied to the approval of Classification lists and Price lists as well as the other items of work specified in the said circular. 3. The senior officers at the time of inspection of ranges or divisions should make it a point to go into these aspects also and fix responsibility, wherever unreasonable delay had occured. 4. All efforts should be made to complete approval of such lists within the prescribed time limit. Wherever such lists have not been approved within the prescribed time limit, specific reasons should be given in the monthly administrative reports.
