VIII(12)Import/Tech./PN/06/2020/Pt.I Dated: 17.07.2020 PUBLIC NOTICE No. 53/2020 Subject: - Requirement of AGMARK certification prior to import of Blended edible vegetable oils-reg. Attention of the importers, Customs Brokers, members of the trade and all other stake holders is invited to Board's Instruction No. 12/2020- Customs dated 10.07.2020. 2. Import of Blended Edible Vegetable Oils (BEVO) in India is allowed as per the sub- regulation 2.3.14 (II) of Food Safety and Standard (Prohibition and Restriction on Sales) Regulations, 2011, which reads as under:- (II) The Blended Edible Vegetable oils shall not he sold in loose firm. It shall be sold in sealed package weighing not more than 15 Kilograms. The container having blended edible vegetable oil shall be tamper proof Il shall also not be sold under the common or generic name of the oil used in the blend bul shall be sold as Blended Edible Vegetable Oil . The sealed package shall be sold or offered for sale only under AGMARK certification mark bearing the label declarations as provided in the Regulations besides other labelling requirements under the Regulation 24.2 of Food Safety and Standards (Packaging and Labelling) Regulations, 2011 . 2.1 Accordingly, Import of Blended Edible Vegetable Oils (BEVO) without AGMARK certification is not allowed in India. Further, the Blended Edible Vegetable Oils (BEVO) shall also comply with the rules and regulations made under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. 3. In view of the above, import of Blended Edible Vegetable Oils (BEVO) shall be allowed only after compliance of the above said requirements and the procedure as mentioned in FSS (Import) Regulations, 2017. 4. In case of non compliance, the importer shall be liable for penal acGon under relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1962. 5. All trade associations/members of Customs Brokers Association are requested to take note and publicize the contents or this Public Notice among their members/constituents. 6. For the departmental officers, this may be treated as Standing Order. 7. Difficulties, if any. may be brought to the notice ol' Additional Commissioner of Customs (Technical), ACC Import, New Custotns Ilouse, New Delhi through e-mail on e-mail ID [email protected].
