Ministry of Finance Department of Revenue Office of the Commissioner of Customs Custom House, New Harbour Estate Thoothukudi 628004 Tel: 0461 2352655, 1352633ta/ Fax 0461 2352019 C.No. VIII/48/90/2018-Cus.Pol Dated: 13.01.2023 PUBLIC NOTICE 02/2023 Kind attention of all Customs Brokers and all other stakeholders is invited to Notification No. 52/2022-Customs (N.T) dated 24.06.2022 vide which the following regulations were made to amend the Customs Brokers Licensing Regulations, 2018, namely:- 1. In Regulation 20, for sub-regulations (1) and (2) the following sub-regulations shall respectively be substituted , namely : - i. Each Customs Broker shall enroll himself as a member of the Customs Brokers Association at every jurisdiction he operates, if there is such an Association registered in the Customs Station, where the Customs Broker is operating and recognized by the Principal Commissioner of Customs or Commissioner of Customs, as the case may be. ii. No Customs Broker shall enroll himself in more than one Association, at a given time, in a particular jurisdiction. 2. After Regulation 20, the following regulation was inserted, namely:- 21. Where an applicant or a Customs Broker or NACIN makes a representation to the Board that he or it, as the case may be, is unable to comply with his or its duties or obligations within the time period as specified under any provision of these regulations, for the reasons beyond his or its control, but otherwise satisfy all other conditions, if any, as provided under such provision, the Board may, after consideration of the representation, and for reasons to be recorded in writing, allow a further time period for compliance of such duties or obligations . 3. In view of this, all the Customs Brokers, who are registered with operating under the Jurisdiction of Tuticorin Customs House are advised to enroll themselves as member of Tuticorin customs brokers Association (TCBA), B-23, Harbour, World Trade Avenue, Tuticorin-628004.
