Attention is invited to Board's D.O.F. No. 282/15/87-CX.9, dated 19-11-1987 and D.O.F. No. 223/2/88-CX.6, dated 20-1-1988 on the above subject and to say that copies of bank statements/returns furnished by the assesssees to bank/other financial institutions should be treated as confidential documents. It should be ensured that due care is taken in this regard by the Central Excise Officers handling such statements.
