No. 297/1/97-CX. 9 Dated 21-7-1998 Government of India Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) Central Board of Excise Customs, New Delhi Subject : Export of excisable goods to Nepal - Delay in grant of rebate of Central Excise duty to HMG, Nepal - Simplification of procedure. I am directed to refer to this Ministry's Notification No. 50/94-C.E. (N.T.), dated 22-9-1994 regarding grant of rebate of Central Excise Duty to the His Majesty's Government of Nepal. 2. A proposal has been received in the Board from the DG Customs, Nepal requesting review of the current procedure of sanction of orders, in order to establish a simplified procedure for sanction of rebate to HMG, Nepal without delay. 3. The matter has been examined in consultation with the DGI(CCE) and it has been decided that all Commissioners (Customs) and the Commissioner (Preventive), Mumbai may pass suitable orders to the effect that stipulations laid down in the procedure as detailed in M.F. (D.R.) Notfn. 50/94-C.E. (N.T.), dated 22-9-1994 and as amended by Notfn. No. 26/95-C.E. (N.T.), dated 6-6-95 are to be strictly followed by the Land Customs Officers. The concerned Assistant Commissioners/Superintendents Incharge of the Borders would be personally held responsible in case of any delay in the despatch of the duplicate invoices, to the Office of Directorate General (Inspection), New Delhi. 4. In view of the above, you are requested to issue suitable instructions to your field formations for immediate and strict compliance. 5. Receipt of this letter may kindly be acknowledged.
