Containers - Use of imported containers for carrying domestic cargo Letter F. No. 450/69/2000-Cus. IV Dated 30-10-2001 Several references have been received from the Trade requesting the Department to allow the use of imported containers for carrying domestic cargo during the stipulated period of 6 months or the period as may be extended by the Assistant Commissioner/Deputy Commissioner of Customs for re-export of the same under notification No. 104/94-Cus., dated 16-3-1994. 2. The matter has been examined and it has been decided that the containers imported under the said notification shall be allowed for the purpose of carrying domestic cargo during the stipulated period of 6 months or the extended period as may be allowed, pending re-export of the same. The facility may be allowed purely as a temporary measure pending further examination of the matter by the Board. 3. Difficulties, if any, in implementation of these instructions may be brought to the notice of the Board immediately.
