INSTRUCTION NO. 1290/CBDT Dated : November 29, 1979 Section(s) Referred: 12A Statute: Wealth Tax Act, 1957 The Board have approved of the proposal for appointments of Officers of the rank of Assistant Commissioner under section 12A of the Wealth-tax Act, 1957. 2. Certain Income-tax Officers were approved as Valuation Officers of Shares and Securities etc. before their promotion as Assistant Commissioners. On promotion their appointment as Valuation Officer had been cancelled. In view of the Board's decision such officers can again be appointed as Valuation Officers for Shares and Securities etc. 3. It is brought to your notice that hence forth the proposal for appointment as Valuation Officers can be sent covering Income-tax Officers as well as Assistant Commissioners of Income-tax provided that the Officers concerned have worked in Company Circles or are Commerce graduate or are Chartered Accountants.
