Holding of meetings between Chief Comm./Comm and tax consultants. - Income Tax - 1783/CBDTExtract INSTRUCTION NO. 1783/CBDT Dated: February 22, 1988 In the 23rd meeting of Central Board of Direct Taxes Advisory Committee held in Sept. 1987, it was suggested that there should be regular meetings between the Chief Commissioners/Commissioners and Tax Consultants (Chartered Accountants, Advocates, I.T.Ps. etc.) to create a better understanding between the tax administration and the public. This recommendation has been accepted by the Board. 2. It has been decided that the Chief Commissioners will organise a meeting with Tax Consultants every year. This opportunity may be utilised for having free discussion about the general problems relating to changes in law and for enlisting public cooperation in timely and proper filing of income-tax returns, payment of taxes etc. The meeting should normally be organised in the headquarters of Chief Commissioners. Senior officers of the Department may be required to participate. Tax consultants from outside the headquarters may also attend such a meeting at their own cost. If the Chief Commissioner feels that it is viable to organise such a meeting at a place other than his headquarters, he may organise the meeting at such a place or request the Commissioner of Income-tax locally stationed to organise such a meeting.
