In Stroud s Judicial Dictionary of words and phrases (Sixth Edition), compromise is defined as follows: Compromise: Compromise , is a mutual promise of two or more parties there are at controversy (Terms de la Ley). A compromise takes place when there is a question of doubt, and the parties agree not to try it out but to settle it between themselves by a give-and-take arrangement . I understand compromise (Legal Aid and Advice to mean an agreement to settle an action or threatened action. It may be an agreement to apply for a consent judgment....
