De-notification of entire area of SE for Electronic Hardware and Software including Information Technology Enabled Services SEZ at Sriperumbudur, Kanchipuram District, Chennai, in the State of Tamil Nadu; - Central Government rescinds the Notification No. S.O. 2118(E) dated 11th December, 2007 - S.O. 5166 (E) - Special Economic Zone

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department of Commerce) (SEZ DIVISION) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 4th December, 2023 S.O. 5166(E). Whereas, M/s. Kanai Technology Parks Private Limited (formerly M/s. Velankani Technology Parks Private Limited) had proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005), (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a Special Economic Zone for Electronic Hardware and Software including Information Technology Enabled Services SEZ at Sriperumbudur, Kanchipuram District, Chennai, in the State of Tamil Nadu; And, whereas, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the said Act read with rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006 , notified an area of 57.46715 hectares at the above Special Economic Zone vide Ministry of Commerce and Industry Notification Number S.O. 2118(E) dated 11 th December, 2007; AND, WHEREAS, M/s. Kanai Technology Parks Private Limited has now proposed to de-notify the entire area of 57.46715 hectares of the above Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has given No Objection Certificate to the proposal vide letter No. 4512188/MIB.1/2023 dated 31st July, 2023. Further, the land parcels after de-notification will conform to Land Guidelines/master plans of the Government of Tamil Nadu; AND, WHEREAS, the Development Commissioner, Madras Special Economic Zone has recommended the proposal for de-notification of entire area of 57.46715 hectares of the Special Economic Zone; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by first proviso to rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules 2006 , the Central Government hereby rescinds the above notification except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such rescission.
