Exemption to substitutes of ozone depleting substances Notification No. 5/95-C.E. Dated 16-1-1995 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts goods falling under Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986), required for the substitution of ozone depleting substances, from whole of the duty of excise leviable thereon under the said Schedule, subject to the following conditions namely :- (i) that the project for such substitution has been approved by the steering committee set up in the Ministry of Environment and Forests for the clearance of projects; (ii) that the importer furnishes, in each case, a certificate duly signed by an officer not lower in rank than a deputy secretary in the Ministry of Environment and Forests to the effect that the said goods are required for the said purpose. This notification shall remain in force upto and inclusive of 31st March, 1997.
