In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby directs that each of the notifications of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), specified in column (2) of the Table hereto annexed shall be amended or further amended, as the case may be, in the manner specified in the corresponding entry in column (3) of the said Table.

1.	45/61-Central Excises, dated the 1st March, 1961.	In the said notification, for the words "seventy-seven paise per gross of boxes", the words "fifty-five paise per hundred boxes" shall be substituted.
2.	41/81-Central Excises, dated the 1st March, 1981.	In the said notification, (i) in the opening paragraph, for the figures and words "Rs. 3.00 per gross boxes of 50 matches each or Rs. 18.00 per gross boxes of 300 matches each", the figures and words "Rs. 2.10 per hundred boxes of 50 matches each or Rs. 12.60 per hundred boxes of 300 matches each" shall be substituted; and
		(ii) in clause (iii) of the first proviso, for the words "fifty paise per gross of boxes", the words "thirty-five paise per hundred boxes" shall be substituted.
3.	42/81-Central Excises, dated the 1st March, 1981.	In the said notification, (i) in the opening paragraph, for the figures and words "Rs. 2.50 per gross boxes of 50 matches each or Rs. 15.00 per gross boxes of 300 matches each", the figures and words "Rs. 1.75 per hundred boxes of 50 matches each or Rs. 10.50 per hundred boxes of 300 matches each" shall be substituted; and
		(ii) in clause (iii) of the first proviso, for the words "fifty paise per gross of boxes", the words "thirty-five paise per hundred boxes" shall be substituted.
4.	22/82-Central Excises, dated the 23rd February, 1982.	In the said notification, (i) in the opening paragraph, for the figures and words "Rs. 1.10 per gross boxes of 50 matches each or Rs. 6.60 per gross boxes of 300 matches each", the figures and words "Rs. 0.75 per hundred boxes of 50 matches each or Rs. 4.50 per hundred boxes of 300 matches each" shall be substituted; and
		(ii) in clause (a) of the first proviso, for the words "fifty paise per gross boxes", the words "thirty-five paise per hundred boxes" shall be substituted.
5.	116/85-Central Excises, dated the 8th May, 1985.	In the Table annexed to the said notification, (i) against S. No. 1, for the entry in column (3), the entry "Rs. 3.15 per hundred boxes" shall be substituted; and
		(ii) against S. No. 2, for the entry in column (3), the entry "Rs. 18.90 per hundred boxes" shall be substituted.
