Central Excise (Fifth Amendment) Rules, 1987

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 37 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules, 1944, namely :-

1. (1)  These rules may be called the Central Excise (5th amendment) Rules, 1987.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Central Excise Rules, 1944, in rule 2, in clause (ii), in sub-clause (A), for item (p), the following item shall be substituted, namely :-

"(p) (a) in the area comprising Municipal wards A to H and K (East) of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Bombay, of the State of Maharashtra; and

(b) in the areas in the Continental Shelf, or as the case may be, in the Exclusive Economic Zone of India, declared a designated areas by the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of External Affairs, No. S.O. 429(E), dated the 18th July, 1986, the Collector of Central Excise, Bombay-I;".
