Batteries, sound equipments, wireless receiving sets, television sets and games [Chapter 85 or 95]

Dated 1-3-1986

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 68/86-Central Excises, dated the 10th February, 1986, namely :—

In the Table annexed to the said notification,—

(i) for Sl. No. 1 and the entries relating thereto, the following Sl. Nos. and entries shall be substituted, namely :—

Cast alloy permanent magnets (the alloy used in the manufacture of which contains amongst other, nickel, or cobalt, or both), manufactured by any Meteorological Research Laboratory of the Ministry of Defence

Nil

If -

 

 

(a)

such magnets are intended for purposes of defence or of research and development; and

 

 

(b)

an officer duly authorised by the Ministry of Defence furnishes a certificate, within 3 months of the close of every year or within such extended period as the Assistant Collector of Central Excise may allow, that such magnets had been used for any of the purposes aforesaid.

Parts of storage batteries.

Nil

If used in the factory of production in the manufacture of electric storage batteries falling under heading No. 85.07.";

(ii) in Sl. No. 5, in column (3), the words " namely, containers, covers and plates" shall be omitted ;

(iii) in Sl. No. 18, in column (4), for the entry, the entry "Rs. 1,000 per set" shall be substituted ; and

(iv) in Sl. No. 19, in column (4), for the entry, the entry "Rs. 1,500 per set" shall be substituted.
