Amendment to 24 existing Notifications

Notification No. 97/86-C.E.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby directs that each of the notifications of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue and Insurance) or Department of Revenue or in the Department of Revenue and Banking, as the case may be, specified in column (2) of the Table hereto annexed shall be amended or further amended, as the case may be, in the manner specified in the corresponding entry in column (3) of the said Table.

1.	100/69-C.E., dated the 22nd March, 1969.	In the said notification, for the words, figures and brackets "Item No. 31 of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "heading No. 85.06 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted.
2.	234/69-C.E., dated the 13th December, 1969.	In the said notification, for the words, figures and brackets "Item No. 22A (i) and (ii) of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "heading Nos. 53.06 or 63.01 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted.
3.	129/70-C.E., dated the 6th June, 1970.	In the said notification, for the words, figures and brackets "wool tops and carded gilled slivers falling under Item No. 43 of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "wool tops, falling under Heading No. 51.02 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted.
4.	184/71-C.E., dated the 16th October, 1971.	In the said notification, -
		(i)	for the words, brackets and figures "sub-item (1) of Item No. 3 of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "sub-heading No. 0902.19 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted;
		(ii)	for the words, figures and brackets "sub-item (1) of Item No. 3", the words and figures "sub-heading No. 0902.19" shall be substituted.
5.	58/72-C.E., dated the 17th March, 1972.	In the said notification, for the words, figures, letter and brackets "Item No. 18D of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)" the words, figures and brackets "heading No. 53.02 or 56.07 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted.
6.	131/72-C.E., dated the 13th May, 1972.	In the said notification for the words, figures, letter and brackets "item No. 22-A of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "heading No. 53.06 or 63.01 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted.
7.	138/72-C.E., dated the 27th May, 1972.	In the said notification, -
		(i)	for the words, figures, letter and brackets "artificial or synthetic resins falling under Item No. 15A of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)" the words, figures and brackets "goods falling under heading Nos. 39.01 to 39.14 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted;
		(ii)	in the proviso, for the words "all artificial or synthetic resins", the words "all such goods" shall be substituted.
8.	184/72-C.E., dated the 12th August, 1972.	In the said notification, -
		(i)		In the opening portion, for the words, figures, letter and brackets "Item 16A of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944;
		(1)		(1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "heading Nos. 40.09 and 40.10 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted;
		(2)			In the Table, in column 2, -
					(i)	for the heading, the following heading shall be substituted, namely :— "heading No. of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)",
					(ii)	against S. No. 1 for the entry "16A(3)" the entry "40.09" shall be substituted;
					(iii)	against S. No. 2, for the entry "16A (4)" the entry "40.10" shall be substituted :
		(3)			in clause (2) of the proviso, for the words, brackets, figures and letter "sub-item (3) or sub-item (4), as the case may be, of Item 16A of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act 1944 (1 of 1944)" the words and figures "the heading No. 40.09 or heading No. 40.10, as the case may be, of the said Schedule" shall be substituted.
9.	187/72-C.E., dated the 26th August, 1972.	In the said notification, for the words, figures, letters and brackets "Item No. 1-B of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "sub-heading No. 0401.13, 0401.14, 0701.10, 0801.10, 1101.11, 1601.19, 1901.19, 1904.10, 2001.10, 2103.11, 2104.10 or 2107.91 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted.
10.	205/72-C.E., dated the 7th October, 1972.	In the said notification, for the words, figures and "brackets "Item No. 2(2) of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "Heading No. 21.01 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted.
11.	24/73-C.E., dated the 17th February, 1973.	In the said notification : -
		(i)			in the opening portion, for the words, figures and brackets "Item No. of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "heading No. of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted ;
		(ii)			in the Table, in column 2, -
					(a)	for the heading, the following heading shall be substituted, namely - "Heading No. of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)";
					(b)	against S. No. 1, for the entry "14D", the entry "32.04" shall be substituted;
					(c)	against S. No. 2, for the entry "14DD", the entry "32.04" shall be substituted;
					(d)	against S. No. 3, for the entry "15AA", the entry "34.01 or 34.02" shall be substituted.
12.	94/73-C.E., dated the 24th March, 1973.	In the said notification, for the words, brackets and figures "sub-item (1) of Item No. 37 of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "heading No. 37.04 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted.
13.	125/73-C.E., dated the 26th May, 1973.	In the said notification, -
		(i)			in the opening portion, for the words, figures and brackets "Item No. of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "heading No. of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted;
		(ii)			in the Table, in column 2, -
					(a)	for the heading, the following heading shall be substituted, namely :- "Heading No. of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)";
					(b)	for the entry, the following entry shall be substituted namely :- "33.04, 33.05 or 33.07".
14.	169/73-C.E., dated the 1st September, 1973.	In the said notification, for the words, figures, letter and brackets "Item No. 1C of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "heading No. 19.05 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted.
15.	200/73-C.E., dated the 1st December, 1973.	In the said notification, for the words, figures, letter and brackets "Item 22C of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "heading No. 59.04 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted.
16.	69/74-C.E., dated the 30th March, 1974.	In the said notification, for the words, figures, letter and brackets "Item No. 18D of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "heading Nos. 53.02 and 56.07 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted.
17.	No. 84/75-C.E., dated the 29th, March, 1975.	In the said notification, -
		(i)			in the opening portion, for the words, figures, letter and brackets "Item No. 37C (2) of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "heading No. 37.02 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted;
		(ii)			in the Table, in column 2 -
					(a)	for the heading, the following heading shall be substituted, namely :- "Heading No. of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)";
					(b)	for the entry, the following entry shall be substituted, namely :- "37.02"
18.	196/75-C.E., dated the 13th September, 1975.	In the said notification, -
		(i)			in the opening portion, for the words, figures and brackets, "Item No. of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "heading Nos. 28.04 and 28.05 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted;
		(ii)			in the Table, in column 2 -
					(a)	for the heading, the following heading shall be substituted, namely :- "Heading No. of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)";
					(b)	against S. No. 1, for the entry, the following entry shall be substituted, namely :- "28.05";
					(c)	against S. Nos. 2 and 3, for the entry, the following entry shall be substituted, namely :- "28.04".
19.	26/76-C.E., dated the 21st February, 1976.	In the said notification, in the opening portion, for the words, figures, letter and brackets, "Item No. 18 or Item No. 18E, as the case may be, of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "heading Nos. 54.02 to 54.07 or 55.01 or 55.02 or 55.04 to 55.07, as the case may be, of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)", shall be substituted;
20.	3/77-C.E., dated the 22nd January, 1977.	In the said notification, for the words, figures and brackets "Item No. 36 of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets, "heading No. 64.01 or 90.21 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted.
21.	48/77-C.E., dated the 1st April, 1977.	In the said notification, -
		(i)			for the words, figures and brackets "of patent or proprietary medicines, being medicines falling under Item No. 14E of the first Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "of patent or proprietary medicaments falling under sub-heading No. 3003.19 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted;
		(ii)			in the proviso, for the word, "medicines" in two places where it occurs, the word 'medicaments' shall be substituted.
22.	125/78-C.E., dated the 20th May, 1978.	In the said notification, for the words, figures, letter and brackets, "Item No. 1C of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "heading No. 04.02 or 04.03 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted.
23.	289/79-C.E., dated the 24th November, 1979.	In the said notification, for the words, figures and brackets "Item No. 1 of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets "heading No. 17.01 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted.
24.	227/82-C.E., dated the 11th October, 1982.	In the said notification, -
		(i)			in the opening portion, for the words, figures and brackets "samples of man-made fabrics, falling under Item No. 22 of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944)", the words, figures and brackets, "samples of fabrics, falling under heading Nos. 54.09 to 54.12 or 55.08 to 55.12 or 58.02 or 58.05 or 59.03 or 59.06 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986)" shall be substituted;
		(ii)			in the Table,
					(a)	in column (2), for the words "Man-made fabrics" wherever they occur, the words "Fabrics of man-made filaments or man-made staple fibres" shall be substituted;
					(b)	against Sl. No. 4, in column (3), for the words, brackets and figures "sub-item (2) and (3) of this Item", the words and figures "sub-heading No. 5805.14 or 5903.29" shall be substituted.
