In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby exempts goods of the description specified in the Schedule hereto annexed and falling under Chapter 71 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986), from the whole of the duty of excise leviable thereon under Section 3 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944).

SCHEDULE

1. Ornaments and the like articles made of gold or silver or both, whether or not set with stones or gems (real or artificial), or with pearls (real, cultured or imitation) or with all or any of them manufactured by goldsmiths or silversmiths.

2. Precious and semi-precious stones, synthetic stones and pearls.

3. Articles of silver.

4. Strips, wires, sheets, plates and foils of silver.

2. This notification shall come into force on the 28th day of February, 1986.
