Central Excise Rules - Seventh Amendment of 1998 Notification No. 21/98-C.E. (N.T.) Dated 2-6-1998 In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules, 1944 namely :- 3. (1) These rules may be called the Central Excise (Seventh Amendment) Rules, 1998. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 4. In the Central Excise Rules, 1944, in rule 57B, in sub-rule (1), - (i) for the words, "manufacturer of final products shall be allowed to take credit of the specified duty paid on the following" the words "manufacturer of final products shall be allowed to take credit of ninety-five per cent. of the specified duty paid on the following" shall be substituted; (ii) after clause (vi), the following proviso shall be inserted, namely :- "Provided that credit of specified duty in respect of any inputs received in the factory of the manufacturer of final products on or before the 1st day of June, 1998 shall be allowed to the extent of the duty paid on such inputs :".
