Central Excise Rules - Fifth Amendment of 1998 Notification No. 11/98-C.E. (N.T.) Dated 12-5-1998 In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules, 1944, namely :- 1. (1) These rules may be called the Central Excise (Fifth Amendment) Rules, 1998. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Central Excise Rules, 1944, in rule 2, in clause (4), - (a) in item (vii), the words "in the Madhupur sub-division in the district of" shall be omitted; (b) in item (viii), the words "and the sub-divisions in the district of Deogarh," shall be omitted; (c) in item (xv), the words "in the City taluka and Daskroi taluka", shall be omitted; (d) for item (xvi), the following item shall be substituted, namely :- "(xvi) in Dasada taluka in the district of Surendranagar, in the districts of Kheda, Gandhinagar, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Anand, Patan and Sabarkantha, of the State of Gujarat, the Commissioner of Central Excise, Ahmedabad-II;"; (e) in item (xvii), for the words "Bhavnagar and Junagarh", the words "Bhavnagar, Porbandar and Junagarh" shall be substituted; (f) for item (xviii), the following item shall be substituted : "(xviii) in the districts of Narmada and Surat, and in the talukas of Ankaleshwar, Jhagadia, Hansot and Valia of the district of Bharuch, of the State of Gujarat, the Commissioner of Central Excise, Surat-I;"; (g) in item (xix), for the words "Valsad and Dang", the words "Valsad, Navsari and Dang" shall be substituted; (h) in item (xx), for the words "Vadodara, Panchmahal", the words "Vadodara, Godhra, Dahod" shall be substituted.
