Central Excise Rules, 1944 - Fourth Amendment to Rules effective from 1-5-1998 Notification No. 9/98-C.E. (N.T.) Dated 31-3-1998 In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following amendment to the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 7/98-Central Excise (N.T.), dated the 10th day of March, 1988, namely :- In the said notification, for sub-clause (2) of clause 1, the following shall be substituted, namely :- "(2) They shall come into force on the first day of May, 1998."
