Effective rates for goods of Chapter 39 changed from ad valorem to specific Notification No. 1/90-Cus. Dated 5-1-1990 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby directs that each of the notifications of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue Banking or Department of Revenue, as the case may be, specified in column (2) of the Table hereto annexed shall be further amended in the manner specified in the corresponding entry in column (3) of the said Table. TABLE S. No. Notification No. and date Amendment (1) (2) (3) 1. 227/76-Customs, dated the 2nd August, 1976 In the Table annexed to the said notification,- (i) against S. No. 4, in column (3), for the figures and words "20% ad valorem ", the words and figures "Rs. 7000 per tonne" shall be substituted. (ii) against S. No. 5, in column (3), for the figures and words "20% ad valorem ", the figures and words "Rs. 6400 per tonne" shall be substituted. 2. 47/89-Customs, dated the 1st March, 1989 In the Table annexed to the said notification,- (i) against S. No. 01, in column (3), for the figures and words "Rs. 2000 per tonne", the figures and words "Rs. 6200 per tonne" shall be substituted; (ii) against S. No. 02, in column (3), for the words and figures "Rs. 1000 per tonne", the words and figures "Rs. 2000 per tonne" shall be substituted; (iii) against S. No. 03, in column (3) for the words and figures "30% ad valorem " the figures and words "Rs. 17500 per tonne" shall be substituted.
