Exemption to thermoplastic splinting material - 095/89 - Customs -TariffExtract Exemption to thermoplastic splinting material Notification No. 95/89-Cus. Dated 1-3-1989 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts low temperature thermo-plastic splinting material and parts made of such material, falling within Chapter 39 or 90 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975) when imported into India for use as fracture and spinal braces by the handicapped person or persons who have become temporarily disabled due to injuries, from- (i) the whole of the duty of customs leviable thereon under the said First Schedule; and (ii) the whole of the additional duty leviable thereon under section 3 of the said Customs Tariff Act: Provided that the importer produces, at the time of importation, a certificate from an officer not below the rank of a Director in the Ministry of Welfare of the Government of India to the effect that the said materials or parts are of the type and are required for the purpose, specified above containing the quantity, description, value and recommendation for the grant of the above exemption.
