Amendments in Deposit Scheme for Retiring Government Employees, 1989 Notification Number: 0745(E) Dated 10-08-1989 The following amendments may be made in the Government of India, Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs) Notification No. F. 2/14/89-NS.II, dated 7th June, 1989 (see [1990] 182 ITR (St.) 63). (i) In para 4, in sub-paragraph (a), the following proviso may be added at the end, namely:-- "Provided further that where the amount of deposit does not exceed Rs. 5 lakhs, an affidavit on stamped paper signed by the depositor indicating the amount of retirement benefits received by him shall be accepted in lieu of a certificate from the employer." (ii) In Form I-- (a) for paragraph (4), the following paragraph shall substituted, namely:-- "4. A copy of certificate from the employer indicating retirement benefits is enclosed (see [1990] 182 ITR (St.) 63)/an affidavit on stamped paper indicating retirement benefits is enclosed (applicable for deposits not exceeding Rs. 5 lakhs) (see [1990] 182 ITR (St.) 63). (b) The following footnote may be added at the end, namely:-- " Delete whichever is not applicable". 2.
