Sachin Pilot to Launch Nationwide Rural Outreach Programmethrough Common Services Centres in J&K |

Press Information Bureau Government of India Ministry of Communications & Information Technology 25-October-2012 16:18 IST As part of deepening Citizen Engagement and to spread awareness about e-governance at village level, Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) is undertaking an Outreach Campaign through Common Services Centres (CSCs) across the country. The campaign will be flagged-off by Shri Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for Communication & Information Technology, along with Shri Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, from Ganderbal district Mini Secretariat, near Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, tomorrow. The campaign will travel through villages in 5 districts of J&K and will halt at 115 CSC- Khidmat Centers. A fully furbished Exhibition Van will provide opportunity for hands on experience about various public services available through these Centers. Other interesting elements of the Exhibition are Nukkad Nataks, audio visual experience and Village Level Entrepreneur assistance in educating people about convenience and transparency of services available through CSCs. In Phase-I, the campaign will be rolled out in 11 states - Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Goa, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh - covering 1343 CSCs. Common service centers are providing various govt. services to people like Certificates (Birth, Death, Domicile, caste, Income etc) MNREGA payments, DOEACC’s CCC courses and non government services, Bank account opening, withdrawal/ deposit, loan document, online railways and airline ticket booking, DTH recharge, etc. Common service centers are part of National e-Governance Plan ( NeGP) which is a major initiative of the Government of India for ushering in e-Governance for improving the quality of basic governance, on a massive scale in areas of concern to the common man. The vision of NeGP is to “Make all Government services accessible to the common man in his locality, through common service delivery outlets and ensure efficiency, transparency & reliability of such services at affordable costs to realize the basic needs of the common man”. NeGP aims at improving delivery of Government services to citizens and businesses and consists of 31 Mission Mode Projects and 8 Components supporting delivery of nearly 5 Crore e-transactions or e-Services every month across the country. Electronic (e) services help the government get closer to the citizens by creating awareness about their rights and the availability of public services, thereby encouraging greater participation. ***** |
