ISD Registration

  • Contents

Dear Professionals,

We are already having Centralized Registration for Service Tax as Service Receiver and Service Provider. My question is i) Whether existing Registration Certificate can be amended to add ISD or ii) We need to apply a fresh Regn only for ISD.

Can you please reply. . ..

Regards

PBMG

Gentlemen,

ISD is governed by rule 7 of CENVAT Credit Rules, 2004. This rule is applicable to the head office/Corporate office of the output service provider. The head office/Corp[orate office is a different premises from the premises/premises (es) from where the output service is actually provided. Therefore if your head office/Corporate office receives bill, invoice, challan etc from the input service provider and if you want to distribute the same to your various branches then you have to take a separate registration since the address of the premises from where input service credit is distributed is different from the premises from where out put service is provided.

Sir,

Having a centralized registration for service tax is different from ISD registration. Your existing registration is not required to be amended for getting ISD registration.

Input Service Distributors have to get themselves SEPARATELY registered as per the provisions under Service tax (Registration of Special Category of Persons) Rules, 2005. They also have to file half yearly returns by the end of the month following the half year.

Dear PBMG,

In aforesaid matter, there is dire need to get separate registration under Finance Act, 1944 read with Rules made there under. Statutory Returns are also required to be submitted online within prescribed time limit.
